The mill is selling its HRB400 16-25mm rebar at 3,900 yuan ($582) per tonne over the February 1-20 period, up 20 yuan per tonne from its last set of prices, it said on Friday February 1.
Shagang is also raising its HPB300 wire rod prices by the same amount to 4,000 yuan per tonne for the same period.
Both prices are on an ex-works basis, including value-added tax.
Spot rebar prices rose slightly last week and were stable this week, which participants thought was the reason for the mill to raise its list prices slightly.
For example, rebar prices in eastern China were at 3,710-3,750 yuan per tonne on January 31, up 30-40 yuan per tonne from January 18.
Due to the Chinese New Year holidays, February 1 is the only working day in China for the first 10 days of the month, so the mill has released its list prices for bookings made by February 20, market sources said.
“The mill makes list prices the same in the first 20 days of February, indicating it is not very bullish on post-holiday prices,” a trader in Shanghai said.
