ISO 3183.3 Gr L485What standard?
The new international standard for pipeline management, ISO 3183, was published in 2007, replacing the ISO standard published in three parts in the 1990s.The new standards were developed by a joint ISO and API working group that successfully reconciled most of the ISO and API requirements.The API has adopted ISO 3183 and was published as the 44th edition of the API Spec 5L pipeline specification on October 1, 2007.The API version includes two additional appendices, one to address regional biases and the other to explain the API's proprietary logo usage.
The new comprehensive standard is used in the pipeline of a wide range of carbon and manganese and micro alloy seamless pipe and welded steel pipe manufacturing and supply of the prescribed requirements, the strength of the steel tube covered by the scope of some wider than ever before, including three first appeared in the new high strength grade: ISO and API standard 625 (X90), L, 690 L 830 (X100) and L (X120 measures how).
The new ISO 3183 USES the API system's two product Specification levels (PSL, Production Specification Level). PSL 1 deals with standard quality grade steel pipes for distributors who stock and sell standard steel pipes for general purposes.The PSL 2, a higher grade, specifies steel tubes for more demanding conditions where the chemical composition, notch toughness, and strength of the tube body are subject to mandatory testing.The standard has a range of options that allow PSL 2 steel pipe buyers to specify additional technical requirements, or to specify more comprehensive testing, as well as tailor-made underground orders for the intended use.ISO 3183 provides more guidance than other pipeline standards in a single standard and includes several optional appendices covering connection spools, coupling, manufacturing process certification and nondestructive testing;Detailed testing requirements are also specified for PSL 2 steel tubes for natural gas transportation, sulfur-bearing media transportation, and offshore operations where ductility fracture propagation resistance is required.
ISO 3183:2007 was developed for worldwide use, using a dual system of units, the international system of units and the United States customary system of units.
